Simon Dobbs studied at the Saint Martin's School of Art before training as an architect and town planner. He resumed painting in the 1970's when he opened his own studio/gallery in Dorset, the "Garden Studio." After returning to architecture he took up painting again full-time in the 1990's, exhibiting paintings of the urban landscape in London. From 1997 to 2002 he ran "the Seagull Gallery" in Salcombe, Devon, showing his own work. He has also exhibited in London, Japan and locally at the Harbour House Gallery in Kingsbridge and in Devon Open Studios.
